The hotel is in a fantastic location surrounded by excellent restaurants.
I was second time in this hotel. It was the next unforgettable visit. Delicious breakfast buffet which is mixture traditional Chinese and international dishes.
location, location, location. Very central, very good for public transport, and surrounding by the charms of the French concession shops and restaurants.
staff were very helpful and the rooms were spacious. comfortable beds. Great to be able to open the windows. Location was great - interesting neighbourhood and good local and international food nearby. Close to public transport.
the temperature in the corridors and rooms on the 5th floor was much too hot. I understand it was set to 'winter' setting, but I believe that even this is far too warm. I would be comfortable with 20C settings, or even 18C.
The historic nature of the hotel
Over heating in air con.
Friendly and helpful English speaking staff. Nice spacious rooms. Great location. Felt a bit like an oasis in a busy city.
The hotel is perfectLy located and for the price the facilities are excellent. Large rooms , good beds and a bit of the atmosphere of old shanghai.
Nice location and rooms were tidy, good bed.
Breakfast wasn't very good, after one try we ended up buying our breakfast at a restaurant on the other side of the road. Much more value for money. No wifi available on rooms.
The location is ideal, in the heart of Puxi with access to excellent restaurants and the rest of central Shanghai. Comfortable large rooms and in easy walking distance from Changshu metro or South Shaanxi metro station. They also offered to look after our luggage for two weeks while we travelled elsewhere.
Because I usually stay there when i Shanghai
The hotel is getting old, and need to be up to dated, do something about the bathrooms
Very dissapointed in reception staff - not friendly - even rude - this is the second time I have stayed there and found them to be most unhelpful probably the worst I have experienced in Asia
The swimming pool and facilities in general
Because of a typhoon the day we were suppose to arrive we could not fly into Shanghai. Booked.net did not allow us to change our reservation but an email and call to the Hotel solved the problem. They were very helpful and understood the situation and made no problem at all of us changing the reservation. The hotel itself is an old style mansion, with great spacious rooms. The building has some history and some Chinese avoid it because there might be ghosts of the past wandering around. They did not bother me. Very friendly, resourceful and helpful staff. Very good location. Will definitely stay there again if I need to be in Shanghai.
Only one thing was a disappointment: the gym. Small, under equiped and the aircon did not work. With no windows it was way too hot to work out there.
good situation with many nice restaurants, for us it was more nicer area to stay than nanjingroad and pudong area, which are only tourist traps, and shopping.
What really nice to be with then.
